A powerchair made for two

Sarah Handley uses a powered wheelchair and had been carrying her daughter Jessica in a sling or on her knee when out and about. By the time that Jessica was four this was becoming a problem as she was getting too big! Sarah contacted Remap to see anyone could help keep Jessica on the chair, but off her knee.
Richard Gunner, a volunteer with Remap Swindon came up with this brilliant solution. After discussing options with Sarah, Richard moved the existing seat to one side a little and added a second seat alongside for Jessica.
Sarah comments: “It’s coming up to 2 years since we had our seat widened and we still use it daily for the school run and trips to the shops. It’s allowed me to get Jess to school through rain, sun and snow. It gives us “snuggle time” making my wheelchair a positive thing in her life”.
As a thank you to Remap, Sarah is fundraising – do please support her!
