At Remap we recognise that many of the people we help are at particular risk from coronavirus. In addition, our free service is provided by a network of volunteers, many of whom are retired and at additional risk themselves.

Our priority is to keep everyone safe so we are avoiding face to face contact where possible. You can find our policy statement here. As ever, please contact your nearest Remap group for their advice.

Keep well and stay safe!

Ball-throwing device

Posted 18 June 2015 in Stories

Lorna has three different jobs and owes a great deal to her partner Eli the dog, on whom she relies for a huge variety of tasks. Lorna has cerebral palsy, so uses a wheelchair to get around, but was unable to throw a ball for Eli.

She turned to Remap South Hertfordshire for help and volunteer Brian Bloomfield constructed a ball-hurling mechanism to attach to Lorna’s chair.

Now, when she takes Eli into the nearby park, Lorna can entertain him in a way he loves. ‘Brian is an absolute gem,’ says Lorna. ‘It’s wonderful to be able to give Eli a reward he enjoys so much.’
