We are committed to delivering our essential services as safely as possible. We will continue to ensure the safety of the people we serve, their occupational therapists, carers, and the Remap volunteers who design, make and install specialist equipment. We will continue to monitor Government and NHS guidance regarding social distancing and Personal Protective Equipment and we will undertake sufficient risk assessments.

We are still here, able to provide help, and we will continue to take special measures to do so.

Valerie stays independent

Posted 29 November 2017 in Stories

Valerie was having difficulty using the shower and this affected her ability to live independently in her own home. Her shower control had a circular knob that was hard to turn so Vic Brown, a volunteer with Remap Derby modified it for her. He took a mould of the shower control, then made a nylon bar that would fit perfectly onto this. The result is a nice long lever control that Valerie can easily turn.

Valerie commented that she was “very pleased … it has enabled me to retain my independence”
