Stuart runs Freedom Wheelchair Skills, a company that provides peer-led training in the fundamentals of using a wheelchair that encourages people to lead more independent lives. He was a back seat passenger in 1993 when the car he was in was involved in an accident. He woke up from a coma a month later in The National Spinal Injuries Centre in Stoke Mandeville. He was 17, paralysed, and wheelchair-dependent. He has since worked extensively with the spinal injuries charity, Back Up and now teaches wheelchair skills to anyone with mobility needs around the country.
