At Remap we recognise that many of the people we help are at particular risk from coronavirus. In addition, our free service is provided by a network of volunteers, many of whom are retired and at additional risk themselves.

Our priority is to keep everyone safe so we are avoiding face to face contact where possible. You can find our policy statement here. As ever, please contact your nearest Remap group for their advice.

Keep well and stay safe!

Remap’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) Risk Assessment Policy

Last updated: 20 July 2020

Statement of Intent

Remap is committed to ensuring the safety of the people it serves, their occupational therapists, carers and Remap’s volunteers who design, make and install the equipment it provides during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It will never ask anyone to carry out a task that they are uncomfortable with.

To achieve this we will:

  • Monitor Government and NHS updates on COVID-19
  • Identify risks of COVID-19 specific to Remap
  • Undertake a suitable and sufficient risk assessment of the risks from COVID-19
  • Consult Remap local groups in the risk assessment process
  • Demonstrate that a proper check was made, all people who might be affected were considered, all significant risks have been assessed, the precautions are reasonable and the remaining risk is acceptable
  • Reduce risk to the lowest reasonably practicable level by taking preventative measures
  • Review and revise this policy as necessary during the current (2020) pandemic and then annually

Responsibilities

  • Remap’s trustees will maintain this policy document and communicate to volunteers
  • Remap’s local group Chairs will ensure all their group members are aware of the policy and are adhering to it
  • Remap volunteers will comply with the policy, conduct risk assessments as necessary and inform their group Chairs of any deviation from their risk assessment
